Typical cases

What we usually find

The power is off but the neighbours have it

The fault is in your installation or your service line, not in the grid. It is usually the RCD, an earth leakage or the fuse in the main service box.

The RCD trips and will not go back up

There is an earth leakage in one of the circuits. We isolate them one by one with an insulation tester until we find the one causing it.

A burning smell or a hot socket

A loose contact or a cable that is too thin. It is the fault that causes most electrical fires, and it cannot wait.

A fault in a shop, bar or restaurant

A business without power loses money every hour. A shop, warehouse or business is €96.30 per hour, and we restore first what stops the business: cold rooms, kitchen and till.

Questions

What people ask before writing

How long does an emergency electrician take to arrive?

It depends on the area and on the day. When you write, we give you a realistic time window; we do not promise a time we cannot keep. Out of hours, at night or on a public holiday there is one supplement, +€21.40 per hour, never several added together.

Does the electricity company pay for the fault, or do I?

If the fault is before your main service box, it belongs to the distribution company. From that box inwards it belongs to the property. Measuring shows which side it is on, and we tell you.

Why does the RCD trip when nothing is plugged in?

Because the leak is in the installation, not in an appliance: damp in a junction box, a pinched cable, a water heater element that has failed. The RCD itself can also wear out. We test the insulation circuit by circuit.
