When you need it
Change of account holder or reconnection
When the supply has been cut off for some time, the distribution company asks for a certificate again.
Increasing the contracted power
More power means checking the consumer unit and its protections: what worked for 3.45 kW may not work for 5.75 kW.
Holiday rental or older property
We check what the installation needs to comply — earthing, RCD, separate circuits — and give you the cost before issuing anything. We never sign a certificate for an installation that does not comply.

What people ask before writing
How much does an electrical certificate cost?
€365 with IGIC if the installation complies, the same price for a home, shop, warehouse or garage: tests, certificate and registration included. If the consumer unit has to be replaced first, the new unit is added: €565 for 6 circuits or €920 for 10.
Does the certificate expire after 20 years?
Not automatically. For connecting a supply, the distribution company treats it as valid for five years from issue; for an installation in use and untouched, it is the record of what was legalised. A renovation needs a new one.
How long does it take?
The inspection is one visit. If the installation complies, the certificate is issued and registered online without waiting; if not, the timing depends on the work needed, and we tell you before we start.
